The proprietors and staff of DeStefano’s welcome you and yours to what we hope will become your “neighborhood home away from home.” It is with great pride and pleasure to serve nothing but the best of what life has to offer and to share with our guests a piece of Brooklyn’s history, as well as our own.
DeStefano’s was established as a tribute to the DeStefano family and all those families that made the borough of Brooklyn and the Williamsburg community a great place to live.
Our goal is to pay homage to the simple values of faith, family, and friends that are evidenced by the strong sense of unity in the Williamsburg community. It is the type of neighborhood where one can be absent for twenty years, yet feel perfectly at home whenever they return. Don’t be surprised if someone at another table asks, “Hey, didn’t you go to 132, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, or St. Francis?” As such, we are committed to creating an atmosphere of quality dining in which you will feel the warmth and hospitality that is Brooklyn.
Our décor has been personally designed to evoke warm and happy memories of our neighborhood, both past and present. Some photos and memorabilia will depict family and church traditions, while others will tell stories of historical interest, famous people, or traditional products. Hopefully, your dining experience will evoke some family traditions and memories of your own. Memories of simpler times when girls played hopscotch, paddy cake, double Dutch, and pushed doll carriages while boys played skelsy, built scooters out of old wooden milk crates, and invented at least eight games that could be played with a “spaldeen.” Days when we thought we had so little yet had so much.
